How to tell the quality of glass fiber needle-punched felts
Category: Industry News
Release date: 2025-10-29
Summary: High-quality products have clean surfaces, evenly aligned and straight mesh patterns with uniform openings and excellent toughness; in contrast, inferior products feature rough surfaces, irregular and uneven mesh structures, and poor flexibility.
The quality of glass fiber needle-punched felts can be assessed using the following methods:
Surface observation
High-quality products have clean surfaces, evenly aligned and straight mesh patterns with uniform openings—and exhibit excellent toughness. In contrast, inferior products feature rough surfaces, uneven and irregular mesh patterns, and poor flexibility.
Chemical stability
High-quality products exhibit strong resistance to acid and alkali corrosion, as well as excellent protection against cement erosion and chemical degradation—making them highly safe. In contrast, inferior products are more susceptible to environmental factors and suffer from poor stability.
Tensile test
High-quality products easily return to their original shape after stretching, with minimal deformation; low-quality products, once stretched, struggle to regain their original form.
Combustion characteristics
Glass fiber is highly resistant to high temperatures (above 700°C), and when burned, it produces gray smoke and a pungent odor; plastic products, on the other hand, burn at lower temperatures and emit a different kind of smell.
